SITUATION
Humans are naturally curious creatures who want to explore the world. With exploration however comes the risk of getting lost. The North Face is already a well established one-stop shop for explorers. They can truly stand out from the crowd by implementing a simple and comprehensible safety feature to their lineup.
TASK
- Research strategies explorers use when lost
- Select priority information to display
- Analyze situations where explorers have been lost & found
- Examine safety features already in place for areas like trails
ACTION
- Create a survey to gain insights
- Design patch prototypes & test information displayed
- Finalize digitalized high-fidelity prototype
RESULT
A series of patches containing basic survival information for different situations. The information is not meant to be a guaranteed promise of survival, but should help guide people in the correct direction. With the implementation of these patches we could potentially faster rescues, an increase in sales for The North Face, and an overall increase in survival rates.









RECOMMENDATIONS
The information on the patches themselves should be tested and reviewed by a professional to ensure that it is adequate enough for the circumstances provided. Color for the patches could also be potentially introduced; with a unique color that corresponds to a location or setting.
